2025 Salomon Rumble Fish Snowboard Review

The Lowdown

Versatility has reached a new level as the Rumble Fish bridges the gap between powder and park. Setting itself apart from other boards of its class, the 2025 Rumble Fish is now updated to include rubber rails to dampen any chatter underfoot, and a slightly longer nose for better float in pow. It features a responsive flex with tons of pop for hitting jumps and kickers, it feels stable enough to crush through any chunder thrown at it, and it floats seamlessly through bowls of powder. This directional twin board carves, floats, and jumps like a champ and could quickly become the next board that everyone keeps grabbing for this winter.

Ride Impressions

I am beyond impressed with the 2025 Rumblefish. I first took this board out in Revelstoke, Canada in about 8 inches of fresh powder, and I was amazed at how well it soared through the powder despite not being a ‘powder-specific’ board. The extra rocker in the tip and tail is quite noticeable compared to previous year's models, and this board went from feeling like a typical resort board to more of a freeride board with just a few millimeters of change. What I love about the Rumblefish is that it feels like it can do anything - park, trees, groomers, powder, and chunder, and while I was a huge Hel Yes fan for a long time (and still am), in my opinion the upgrades to this for 2025 have tipped the scales in Salomon’s favor. Usually, I would want a different board for a spring day cruising groomers and hitting the park, versus a blustery day in the middle of winter with tons of powder, but this board can do it all. The addition of the Rubber Rails this year has made a huge difference too. Last year, this board felt a little chattery over crusty uneven terrain and chunder, but the new 2025 model is way damper and more stable. I rode the Rumblefish in a 148cm, and I felt like this was the perfect size for me. I like that the waist width of 243mm is slightly wider than many other all-mountain boards of this length, and the 7.5m sidecut radius is a great in-between length that helps to make tighter turns through trees but is also great for larger carves in bowls or wide open terrain. The edge tech that Salomon uses is fantastic as well. I rode it on some pretty icy groomer days and it dug in and held an edge without feeling catchy like Magne-Traction can sometimes feel. Overall, this board is a machine for any intermediate to advanced female riders looking to ride the whole mountain from park to powder and could easily be a “quiver-of-one” go-to board.

Who Is It For?

Oftentimes, a ‘do-it-all’ board does everything mediocre, but not the Rumblefish. This board is responsive and stable for high-speed carving, is nimble enough to turn quickly through trees, and offers explosive pop for hitting jumps and kickers. Throw in rocker at the tip and tail to cruise through powder, and this board can handle anything. The ideal rider would be an intermediate or advanced female rider who splits their time pretty evenly on the mountain. They might start doing off-piste powder runs through bowls and trees, and then spend the last part of the day cruising groomers and hitting jumps with friends. Someone who travels a lot and doesn’t always know what conditions will be like at their destination would also really appreciate this board.
