2024 GNU Head Space Snowboard Review

The Lowdown

Twins, doppelgangers, pills, popsicles, or whatever else you call the freestyle forward snowboards that remind you of snowboarding's skate roots. This newly shaped 2024 GNU Head Space Snowboard will fill you with inspiration from past generations of shredding legend. The shape is very traditional and reliable, you can hop on this board and it feels as though you’ve met in the past, like an old friend. The C3 camber provides plenty of pop for boosting side hits, hopping onto rails and floating over the closed minded. The flex is a perfect medium, you can point it on the groomers with no concern and still butter it at whim. Magne-Traction helps you carve between features and makes sure you don’t lose your edge on those icy mornings/nights. Forest Bailey also kills it on the graphic again this year, I wonder if Flameboy and Wet Willy would agree... Either way, this board feels balanced, it is balanced, and it could be just what you need to find your balance. We’re all bad but it’s all good.

Ride Impressions

I tested the 155cm size of the 2024 GNU Head Space Snowboard on sunny spring days where there was a mix of ice and slush. I was able to ride it on fast groomers, as well as through the park, and steep slushy moguls. At 6 feet tall and 185 pounds, the 155cm length was a touch small to be an all-mountain board for me but really shined in the park. Being a medium flexing twin designed for freestyle that’s what you can expect, I do believe the all mountain capabilities would be amazing in a slightly bigger size as well. While the Head Space shines in the park it can hang in the streets too, as shown by Forest time and time again throughout his video parts. But it can also hack it for hitting big park jumps, cheese wedges and just all around shredding. This GNU stands out amongst other twins due to the combination of it being poppy yet damp and the edge hold of the Magne-Traction. It can ride through more chop and hold a carve better than the competition. Other boards I would compare this to would be the Salomon Huck Knife Pro, CAPiTA The Outsiders and the Ride Kink.
