2025 Black Crows Corvus Skis Review

Review Summary

Avg. Tester Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)

Our testers had the opportunity to thoroughly test the 2025 Black Crows Corvus, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. This year's model has seen significant changes from its predecessor, featuring tail rocker and increased camber, making it a prime choice for freeride competition. If you're tackling cliffs and steep runs at high speeds, this ski offers the stability and playfulness you need.

Nic Apodaca praised the Corvus for its performance in freeride competition, noting its stability and playful nature, although it was less suited for bumps and trees due to its large turning radius. Andrew Pringle found the new Corvus to be more approachable with its stable yet easily breakable feel, despite its long straight shape. He appreciated the updates to the rocker profile and construction, which made the ski less powerful but more forgiving. Bennett Kielbon enjoyed the new playful tips and tails, finding the ski stable and fast on edge, with lively tails providing good pop off bumps.

Overall, our testers agreed that the 2025 Black Crows Corvus is an exciting and easier-to-ski model, perfect for those seeking a ski that excels in carving fast downhill and handling fresh snow and crud.

"For 2025, here's the fifth version of the mothership. And it's an all-new shape: classic camber, straight lines, 2 progressive rockers, a dash of titanal, a touch of alpine, and here's the new beast for big mountain skiing, made to enjoy big curves, go fast, and pivot in couloirs. Looser than the old Corvus but still capable of tackling the same terrain.

"Big changes from the old Corvus. Tail rocker and a lot more camber make this ski the ideal freeride competition ski. If you're bombing cliffs and steeps at speed and need something stable but a bit playful, this is the ski you want. Huge turning radius that wasn't great for bumps or trees but was really at home on wide open steep runs."

An original updated to be more approachable?

"In trying out the new version of the Corvus from Black Crows, I liked how even though the 186cm was too short for me (at 6'4 I'd choose the 191cm) I found the long turn radius to be really predictable paired with the added tail rocker. This created a stable yet easy to break loose feeling, especially for a formerly pretty unforgiving ski model. And for a ski with a sheet of metal, it didn't feel overly stiff and really dug into short and medium turns despite the long straight shape. That shape feels true to the model heritage, but with the updates to the rocker profile and construction that make the ski a little less powerful, I'm left wondering how this ski now fits into the freeride collection - a slightly more playful and forgiving big alpine ski."

Fast and fun for more experienced skiers

"The Corvus has a new shape for this year which gives it more playful tips and tails. The ski still has a larger turn radius and is happy making large carving turns. It feels really stable when you put it on edge and loves going fast. One of the main differences I noticed was how the tails of the ski feel more alive and can give you good pop off of bumps. Overall this ski felt more exciting and easier to ski than the past Corvus. This is a great ski if you want a ski that will carve fast downhill that is wide enough to handle fresh snow and crud."

Pros

  • Stability at High Speeds: The Corvus offers excellent stability when bombing cliffs and steep runs at high speeds, making it ideal for freeride competition.

  • Playful Nature: Despite its stability, the ski remains playful with its new tail rocker and camber, allowing for a bit of fun on the slopes.

  • Versatile Turn Performance: The ski handles short and medium turns well despite its long straight shape, thanks to its updated rocker profile and construction.

Cons

  • Large Turn Radius is Limiting: The large turning radius may take more work in bumps or tight tree runs, making it less versatile in these conditions.

  • Less Powerful than Previous Models: Some might find the new Corvus less powerful compared to its predecessors, which could be a drawback for those seeking maximum power.

Who Is It For?

The 2025 Black Crows Corvus is best suited for advanced to expert skiers who thrive on high-speed descents and wide-open steep runs. If you enjoy freeriding and need a ski that offers both stability and playfulness, this model is an excellent choice. The Corvus handles well in fresh snow and crud, making it a versatile option for those who encounter varying conditions.

However, it may not be the best fit for skiers who frequently navigate tight bumps and tree runs due to its large turning radius. Taller skiers might also prefer the longer 191 cm version for better performance.
