For 15 years, evo has been helping customers get away to the mountains, trails, and water. Over the winter, we're profiling three winter Getaways across the US that bring together the places, products, and experiences we love.
Looking to go big this winter? Whether you're storm chasing across I-80 or flying in from the East Coast for a week, few places in the US provide the diversity of skiing/riding and quick access that you can find in Utah's Wasatch Range. Whether it's groomed perfection, big-mountain steeps and cliffs, park hits, or backcountry missions, Utah's gems are all either right out the door for locals, or often within an hour from the airport, allowing you to fly in and ski same-day to maximize your getaway. In recent years, Utah has also become a major homebase for a number of snow businesses. We partnered up with Armada - headquartered in Park City - to combine our experts' travel guides and their local knowledge of Utah's best.
Utah skiing is where quantity meets quality. With seven resorts of world-class quality under an hour from Salt Lake City's airport, it's the perfect destination for any family or group trip to ski. Endless options of terrain allow kids to learn while parents slide perfect groomers, soft bumps, open glades, and powdery bowls. Looking for a surefire ski trip this winter? Load up your ski bag with our picks below and enjoy everything Utah has to offer.
Founded in 2002, Armada has quickly risen through the ranks of ski and outerwear brands to create die-hard fans around the world. With development input from world-class skiers like Tanner Hall, the late JP Auclair, Sammy Carlson, and many others, Armada's team of athletes and engineers have consistently produced winning products like the JJ, ARV, and Invictus skis and Balfour jacket. After over a decade in Costa Mesa, CA, Armada headed east in 2014 for closer proximity to the mountains, settling its world headquarters, showroom, and R&D center in Park City, UT. Two years later, they're hitting their stride in Park City, and we caught up with them to share local knowledge and show behind the scenes with some of our collaborations.
Looking for some highlights to link up in the perfect vacation itinerary? We've dropped pins on some of the best of Utah to get the most out of your long trip, from hitting the slopes to eats & treats and must-see Utah classics.
Utah has long been a breeding ground for freeskiing. It's easy to see why, when today's groms and next year's freeride tour contenders can cut their teeth on an incredible mix of technical chutes at Solitude, big cliffs around Brighton, and billy-goating lines around Snowbird's tram and Baldy face. Big air and technical lines not your thing? There's plenty of deep powder to go around, with storm days giving way to bluebird blower powder in Mineral Basin or Park City's endless glades. Our recommendations for big mountains and deep powder? See below...
Can't wait for weekend turns? Salt Lake City's close access to the Wasatch range gave rise to the culture of dawn patrol. Energetic backcountry skiers with a headlamp, some coffee, and strong legs regularly sneak in pre-work tours, earning powder turns and smiles that continue long into a regular day's work. Whether it's in the Wasatch or around your own home, here are some of our favorites for the backcountry.
If you're searching for the combination of skiing and nightlife on your travels, Park City tops the list in Utah. The ski area and town are intertwined as one, allowing skiers to make turns right down to town at the end of the day, drop their gear, and go out to one of the restaurants and bars that pack Park City's iconic Main Street. Combining function for cold nights with style for days, we pulled together our favorites for a night on the town. (Photo courtesy of Visit Park City)
