Helping Young People Catch Air

Skate Like a Girl promotes confidence and leadership through skateboarding. Since 2000, Skate Like a Girl has worked to make skating accessible and welcoming to all, especially young people living in marginalized communities in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco.
Skateboarding requires a lot of resilience, confidence and courage; all the skills they try to teach in school but can’t. It brings people together, but in a non-competitive way.

Skateboarding is a tool for personal growth and social connection. Skate Like a Girl’s programs, from beginner lessons to advanced clinics, cater to diverse skill levels and backgrounds. The Youth Employment Skateboarding (YES) program stands out, training teens to become instructors and mentors. This initiative not only hones skateboarding skills but also instills leadership, communication, and responsibility, providing job opportunities and fostering community leaders.

Wheels of Fortune is the premier global event for non-traditional skateboarders, bringing together women, trans, non-binary, queer, gender non-conforming, and allied individuals in Seattle for three days of fun, community building, education, and celebration.

The event culminates in a jam-style competition and parking lot party at All Together Skatepark, nestled under our Seattle flagship.

Building Community Partnerships

Skate Like a Girl’s impact extends beyond the skatepark through collaborations with local schools, community centers, and non-profits. These partnerships bring skateboarding to underserved neighborhoods, offering free or low-cost programs that make the sport accessible to all children. Integrating skateboarding into school curriculums helps students develop physical literacy, resilience, and a love for lifelong physical activity, while emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
At evo, we are inspired by Skate Like a Girl’s dedication to transforming youth lives and building inclusive communities. We are proud to support their mission and excited for the positive impact they continue to make in Seattle and beyond.
Together, we ride. Together, we make a difference.
