Construction
AL 6061 T6 (Hardened) Handle – The strongest aluminum available is used in Ortovox's high-end safety products for optimal balance between weight and rigidity. 6061 T6 aluminum is used in all Ortovox shovel handles and the blade of the Kodiak.
AL 5052 (Strain Hardened), Powder Coated Blade – This type of aluminum is perfect for shovel blades because of its light yet rigid properties.
Hardened 7075 T6 Aluminum Spike – Light and stiff, and thus Ortovox's aluminum of choice for the pocket spike.
