2025 Bataleon Cameleon Snowboard Review

Review Summary

Avg. Tester Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆ (4.75/5)

Our team had the chance to hit the slopes with the 2025 Bataleon Cameleon, and we were thoroughly impressed by its dynamic performance across a variety of conditions. The Cameleon combines the playfulness of a party board with the ability to handle more aggressive terrain. Our testers praised its pop that allows it to boost off natural features and kickers with ease.

Kyle Wood highlighted the board's smooth, surfy feel, noting that it facilitates butter-smooth turns without the resistance typically felt with more rigid boards. However, he also mentioned that while the 3BT shaping enhances powder performance, it might compromise edge hold during high-speed carves on hardpack, describing it as a bit loose and skatey.

David Walsh and Justin Courtney found the Cameleon versatile and responsive, and articularly appreciated how the 3BT technology aided in slushy conditions.

Marshall Reid appreciated the board's nod to old-school design in both shape and flex. He recommended the Cameleon as an ideal one-quiver board, especially for riders frequenting the Pacific Northwest's varied terrains, from banked slalom to epic powder days.

Overall, the 2025 Bataleon Cameleon delivers a blend of fun, agility, and all-mountain versatility, making it an attractive option for intermediate to expert riders who favor a playful yet capable board. With its ability to perform in a mix of conditions, from deep powder to park laps, it's designed to keep you engaged and enjoying every moment on the mountain.

Surfy and loose with plenty of boost

"The Cameleon has all the playfulness and smooth riding of a party board with the chops to hang in more aggressive terrain without chattering. It brings a ton of pop to the party, so whether you're hitting true kickers or just popping off natural features, the Cameleon gives you that extra oomph to really air it out. But where it really shines is in its surfy feel. Laying down turns on the Cameleon is butter-smooth and feels natural. There's no feeling like you're fighting against the board to make it do what you want. As for float, the Cameleon can definitely hold its own. It's not the floatiest board I've played around on, but it'll keep you up on those deep days, and the 3BT shaping will make 3 inches of powder feel like 6. Unfortunately, that same 3BT can be a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to edge hold. While it's great for those laid-back, surfy turns, it can feel a bit loose and skatey when you're trying to rail turns at high speed on hardpack. So, if you're all about that surfy, playful style and don't mind sacrificing a bit of edge grip, the Cameleon just might be what you're looking for!"

Great board for an intermediate + rider

"Everything felt great about is board would have like to ride it in a 155 or a hair smaller but was a great board to ride all over the mt the 3BT was very helpful in the slush and for just over all edge to edge riding"

Definitely a board for someone that enjoys steep, deep and fast!

"This board was great for me. I've been riding since '87-88 and the shape and flex brought me back to the old school. Even the graphics brought me back. The Cameleon is the perfect one quiver board for someone riding in the Pacific Northwest from banked slalom to an epic pow day."

All mountian fun

"I got a chance to ride the Bataleon Chameleon in a 157cm length. I found the board to be light weight and responsive. I think this board would excel in soft snow, however I rode this on a a rainy slush day. It was a little slower edge to edge, but the triple base technology kept it playful."

Pros

  • Playfulness: The Cameleon is playful and effortlessly transitions between different terrains, making every ride feel like a party.

  • Pop and Lift: This board is very poppy and perfect for those looking to enhance their airtime on natural features and kickers.

  • Versatility in Conditions: Thanks to its 3BT technology, the Cameleon handles a variety of snow conditions well, from slush to powder.

Cons

  • Edge Hold on Hardpack: While 3BT aids in powder and soft conditions, it tends to feel loose and skatey on hardpack at high speeds.

  • Slow on Transitions: One review noted the board was a bit slower edge-to-edge during his slushy day experience, which might affect performance in tighter terrain.

Who Is It For?

The 2025 Bataleon Cameleon is best suited for intermediate to expert riders who thrive on a playful and dynamic snowboarding experience. This board is ideal for those who enjoy the versatility of a quiver that can handle park laps, freeriding, and occasional deep powder days. Its design facilitates easy and smooth transitions, making it a great choice for riders looking to elevate their fun on the slopes without compromising on performance.

However, due to its playful nature and the 3BT technology, it may not be the best fit for those who prioritize aggressive carving and precision on hard, icy conditions. The Cameleon excels in softer, more forgiving snow where its surfy characteristics can really shine. Riders looking for a board that offers tight, precise edge control in all conditions might need to consider other options.
