The WNDR Alpine Vital 100 Camber Skis check all the boxes - a 100mm waist width that's a winner for any type of backcountry snow from spring corn harvests to deep winter storms, a rocker-camber-rocker profile that delivers the best combination of edgehold and playful turn response, and a factory that's fully committed to sustainable production without the use of petroleum-based plastics or resins. Lots of companies can deliver on the first two, but WNDR is truly ahead of the industry in their use of Algae-based foams and resins in ski production, and that's a good thing.
Asymmetric Big Mountain Rocker with Camber – Gradual tip rocker, camber, slight tail rocker
Camber or Reverse Camber? – Camber refers to the gap you see when you place a pair of skis together base to base. If you see a small gap, the ski is cambered; if there is no gap it is reverse combered or fully rockered. WNDR Alpine makes each of its models in either shape. Generally, the cambered versions will perform better on harder snow (i.e. groomers) with more pop as you finish the turn and tend to be preferred by those who plan to ski both in and out of bounds on the ski. Generally a reverse camber model provides a surfier ride with easier pivoting in challenging snow and may be preferred for pure backcountry conditions. Your personal preference may vary - there are plenty of people who prefer a cambered ski for touring or a fully rockered ski for on piste skiing.
Progressive Flex – A medium to stiff flex at the tail, stiff through the midsection, and gradually decreasing stiffness toward the tip
AlgalTech™ Core – A composite of vertically laminated domestically sourced Aspen wood and high-density Algae-based polyurethane stringers. Bio-based carbon content 41.58% (ASTM D6866)
Triax Woven fiberglass
Binding Plate – Domestically sourced 550mm x 60mm x 4mm hardwood insert enhances pullout strength.
AlgalWall™ Sidewalls – 68% Bio-based Algae-derived cast polyurethane bonds secured to the Algal Core to create a seamless interface. The AlgalWall™ delivers superior impact resistance and dampening, plus more power and stability on edge.
Sintered High Carbon UHMW – Penetrating biodegradable all-temp treatment reduces friction in all snow types without PFC's or other toxic chemical impact.
2.2mm Hardened Steel
Bio-based Super Sap® Resin – Bio-based Entropy Resins® minimize the environmental impact of WNDR products (certified bio-based content ~28%).
Top Sheet – Textured ISOSport ICP 8210 (verified bio-based content 51%)
A Choice of Rocker or Camber – Each WNDR ski width is offered in either full reverse camber or rocker-camber-rocker profiles. Choose your profile according to your ski style (or the day) - positive camber enhances edgehold and pop and has a more traditional feel; reverse camber delivers a more playful surfy feel with more pivotability.
