The Völkl 90Eight Skis have returned, but not without a few upgrades. While still incorporating Volkl's beloved 3D.Ridge tech, the 2018 90Eight has added glass fiber to the layup, boosting edgehold, vibration dampening and responsiveness at speed. Strong all-mountain skiers who spend most of their time on groomed snow but who aren't afraid to mix it up in the trees for fresh turns should definitely check out the 90Eight - the puppies rip.
Tip & Tail Rocker – Makes the ski turn-friendly and allows for a stiffer flex setup. Only the shovel and tail zones bend upwards, with traditional cambering in the middle for pop.
Moderate Tip & Tail Taper
3D.Ridge Technology – Völkl's revolutionary 3D.Ridge construction features a distinctive ridge down the center of the ski that bevels out to a very thin edge both in front of and to the rear of the binding. This significantly reduces inertial mass at the perimeter of the ski, increasing agility.
Multi-Layer Wood Core – Völkl freeskiing models feature a multi-layer wood core that features two different densities of wood. In the binding attachment area, a dense, ash core is used, while in the rest of the ski, the core is poplar. The more dense wood creates more secure screw retention, preventing binding pull-out, and the soft, supple poplar section allows for resilience and snap. The flex pattern is tailored to each ski model, depending on the desired performance.
3D.Glass Technology – Völkl's latest development to improve overall ski performance and stability even in critical snow conditions. Compared to classic glass constructions, the three-dimensional and multiple-folded glass layers in the biding area result in an increased edge grip and a more vivid rebound behavior in turns.
Carbon Stringers – Additional band of carbon in the layup for direct transmission, agility and life.
Full Sidewall – Direct and strong power transmission with full length sidewalls.
P-Tex 2100 Base – A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability.
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
