The Atomic Backland FR 102 Skis are the slimmest in the Backland FR family, but their combination of lightweight materials and solid construction make them a dual threat to be reckoned with across the mountain. The powder rocker profile provides ample lift and tracking through softer snow and combines with a light wood, carbon-reinforced construction that can transition from moguls to the skintrack in a heartbeat. Powder Rocker 20 / 70 / 10 – Tip and tail rocker with camber underfoot creates a supremely versatile platform that excels in powder, crud, and everything in between.
Core
Light Woodcore – Made from poplar wood, this core optimizes the ski’s weight without sacrificing any shock absorption or stability.
Laminates
Carbon Backbone – An ultra-lightweight carbon insert that runs the length of the ski like a stabilizing backbone. This provides exceptional agility and edge hold with no extra weight.
Atomic Topsheets – Lightweight and highly resistant (made from 50% rapeseed oil).

Step Down Sidewall 2.0 – Features a symmetrical step on each end that's stable, light, and durable.

All-Mountain All-mountain skis are designed to handle anything you throw at them including powder, ice, groomers, steeps, heavy snow, and everything in between, but they aren’t necessarily a master of any one terrain. If you’re only going to own one ski to do it all, this is what you want. All-mountain skis generally have what we call mid-fat waists that range from 80-110 mm. Alpine Touring Also known as backcountry skis, alpine touring (AT) skis are designed for going uphill as well as downhill. These skis are typically light for their width and many feature fittings that accept climbing skins. AT skis vary in width and weight, with the wider heavier versions usually used for winter/deep snow touring and the skinnier, lighter skis usually used for spring/summer/long distance touring.

Rocker/Camber/Rocker Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis have the playfulness and float of a rockered ski as well as the added edge hold of a cambered ski. The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.
