There may be a new champ in the "run what you brung" competition. When you factor in everything the Santa Cruz Bicycles Tallboy 5 C S Complete Mountain Bike excels at, it's like five bikes in one. It's 120mm of high octane pumptrack bikepack singletrack bermslap, encased in a bombproof carbon wrapper. This latest Tallboy has the latest VPP® suspension design, size-specific rear ends, Glovebox™ in-frame storage, and a component spec that puts reliability over all else. Seriously: you only get to ride one bike at a time, and a Tallboy is more fun always. Show up fashionably late and finish first with the biggest grin!
Carbon C Frame – A minimal weight gain of approximately 250 - 280 grams (0.6 lbs) for the C frame over the CC due to the different grade of carbon used. Whether you're riding a carbon CC or C frame, you get exactly the same legendary strength and stiffness because Santa Cruz uses exactly the same manufacturing facility and techniques.
Lower-Link Mounted VPP® Suspension – VPP is based on the patented principle of having two short links rotating in opposite directions. This system provides huge design flexibility, allowing Santa Cruz to manipulate shock rates to the intended purpose and character of each model; from short travel endurance bikes to World Championship winning DH machines. This redesign mounts the shock lower on the bike, making for an even better ride quality.
Fox Float DPS Performance Rear Shock – Performance Series FLOAT DPS shocks have fewer adjustments than Factory Series (no Open mode adjust tuning range), and have black anodized air sleeve and body instead of Genuine Kashima Coat.
Shock Adjustments – Lever Actuated Open, Medium, Firm Modes, Air Spring Pressure, External Rebound
The Glovebox™ – Seal whatever you want to carry on your ride inside your downtube. Secure and easy to access, the Glovebox™ has a Tool Wallet and Tube Purse inside, to help organize your stuff too. Simply cavernous!
120mm Rear Travel
Cane Creek 40 Integrated Headset
Bottle Cage Mount
Integrated Flip Chip for HI / LO Geometry Setting

Fox 34 Float Performance – Smoother, lighter, more tunable, and more capable than ever before; when it comes to a do-it-all trail fork the 34 is in a class of its own.
Fork Adjustments – Air Spring Pressure / 3-Position Compression Settings (Open, Medium, Firm) / Low Speed Rebound (10 Clicks)
SRAM GX Eagle – Day in, day out, this is the Eagle ecosystem at its best. GX Eagle combines the full-featured capability of Eagle technologies, in a group that realizes the potential within every build. This is where you’ll find the best aluminum MTB crankset SRAM makes. GX Eagle has its own version of the new, 500-percent range, 10-50t cassette, for more top end speed or a more comfortable climb—should you choose to run it.
Avid Centerline Rotors | 180mm – The new CenterLine Rotor was designed to keep the center of friction consistent throughout rotation thereby minimizing vibration offering consistent performance and a quiet ride.
SRAM G2 R Brakes – The internals of R function the same as SRAM's higher end offerings, but with a simplified shell. G2 R features 7% more power than our Guide Brake. More power means a lighter touch when applying braking power and better control.
Maxxis Dissector Front Tire – Designed in conjunction with Aussie DH racer Troy Brosnan, the Dissector seeks to minimize drag while retaining cornering control. This versatile tire can be used as a front, a pair, or as a rear depending on trail conditions.
Maxxis Rekon Rear Tire – A light trail tire designed to go fast in technical terrain, the Rekon is great in hard-packed to loose conditions.
