There's just something about big tires on a hardtail that get the juices flowing! The Giant Fathom 29 2 Complete Mountain Bike is one of the current crop of hardtails that's meant for more than just XC riding: the angles and components on this bike will gladly take you on some spicier adventures. The front end of this bike is slack enough that it does away with the twitchy behavior you may associate with hardtails, and the wheels and tires can get gnarly too. The Fathom 29 2 is a whole lot of fun just waiting to be ridden.
ALUXX Aluminum SL Frame – This frame material features 6061 alloy with single-butted tubes to produce strong, lightweight framesets for a variety of different bikes and riding styles.
Trail-Inspired Geometry – New frame geometry with a longer top tube, tighter rear triangle and slacker head angle is inspired by modern trail bike trends to offer quickness and smooth control on dirt or paved surfaces.
Giant Crest 34 RCL – Stiff, smooth, and lightweight, this fork is very capable. It has a Giant-tuned damper and a tunable air spring with self-equalizing negative air spring. The lowers are thixomolded magnesium!
Fork Adjustments – Air Spring Pressure / Low Speed Compression / Rebound
Shimano Deore 12 Speed – Get the crisp shifting and excellent chain retention of XTR and XT at a mind-boggling price. The slight weight penalty of Deore barely registers, when presented with its performance and longevity, too.
Tektro TKD143 Hydraulic Disc Brakes – These dual piston brakes provide excellent stopping power for everyday trail use.
180mm Rotors
Giant AM 29 Wheelset – With a 30mm internal width and Shimano hubs, this is a strong and smooth-rolling wheelset.
Maxxis Minion DHF Front Tire – With a tread design that deftly balances rolling speed with braking and cornering traction, it's hard to find fault with the Minion DHF. That's probably why it's one of the most imitated tires in mountain biking. Whether riding local trails, a backcountry epic, racing enduro or World Cup downhill, there's a Minion DHF spec to meet your needs.
Maxxis Aggressor Rear Tire – The Aggressor is designed for high-speed modern mountain bike trails. Advanced knob shaping creates extra gripping edges, and reinforced side knobs offer enhanced stability when cornering at speed. An all-around trail tire excelling on everything from loose cross country race courses to heavy all-mountain riding.
