The Minds Behind the Movement
CEO Jen Gurecki and Creative Director Lauren Bello Okerman want to grow the platform women have in the outdoors, business, and society as a whole. Or perhaps they’re building an entirely new platform. Coalition Snow is an inclusive community of women, the #sisterhoodofshred, who support each other’s goals for change across the outdoors, skiing, and beyond. They keep the conversation going across multiple channels, including a newsletter, weekly podcast, active Facebook group, and are in the process of launching a quarterly magazine, SISU, to provide a voice for a diverse group dedicated to perseverance and the art of inner strength.
Jen Gurecki, CEO
Jen is the Co-founder and CEO of Coalition Snow and has also founded Zawadisha, a social enterprise whose mission is to provide small loans to rural Kenyan women to finance their livelihoods. Zawadisha’s model is soundly pro-poor, pro-woman, and pro-environment. She spends her evenings recording the podcast Juicy Bits and recovering from her 70-day cycling trip across Africa (where the idea for Sisu Magazine was born).
Lauren Bello Okerman, Creative Director
Lauren is the Creative Director at Coalition Snow and Sisu Magazine, where she is charged with making everything look as excellent as possible. Based in Truckee, California, she is a designer, illustrator, sculptor and occasional builder of things, with a special passion for innovation and big ideas. When she’s not working hard, she’s enjoying short hikes and late nights with her 3-year-old daughter Poppy, and husband Kyle.
Coalition Snow - The Products
Coalition Snow saw a need to develop women’s products at the source: female skiers and snowboarders. They aim to develop a variety of shapes targeting the different riding styles of women who spend as much time as possible on snow, without using a predetermined ‘male’ or ‘unisex’ template, or getting stuck in the hypothetical definition of what women anatomically need out of a ski. Starting with their flagship model the SOS, Coalition focused on high-quality materials and craftsmanship and has now carried those traits into both wider powder models as well as all-mountain and park offerings.

For Coalition, change happens by starting a conversation and breaking down norms. Sisu is a quarterly publication that's filled with thought-provoking articles, inspirational photography, and beautiful artwork, all infused with the passion and camaraderie that makes up Coalition Snow.
