We couldn’t be more stoked to bring Alex Pavon (she/her) aboard as our newest MTB ambassador. Based in Flagstaff, Arizona, Alex has been riding and racing since 2013. In addition to being a professional mountain biker, she’s a skier, an EMT, a nursing student and the social media manager for Juliana Bicycles.
Welcome to evo, Alex.
We first got to know Alex in 2019 during Transierra Norte, a multiday enduro race held in Oaxaca, Mexico. We quickly realized that we have a lot of shared values, particularly when it comes to making a positive impact on the communities where we live and play. It was the beginning of a great partnership and as Alex recently told us, “we’re in the process of writing the rest of the story now.”
Alex grew up ski racing but made the jump to mountain biking after a friend convinced her to enter a Big Mountain Enduro race. She was hooked immediately. Alex started racing professionally the next year as a Juliana Free Agent before eventually joining the Juliana/SRAM Pro Team.
“My Maverick is my race bike. I have it set up as 160mm in the front and 146mm in the back. It’s burly enough to handle just about anything I throw at it but is still a bike I can ride around comfortably for 6–8 hours without feeling like I’m pushing a grocery cart uphill through sand.” —Alex Pavon
As an evo ambassador, Alex is a big supporter of Grow Cycling Foundation. She believes they’re helping to expand the cycling community in a meaningful and lasting way. Alex points to their work building a Velosolutions Pumptrack in Los Angeles as a prime example of how they’re making good things happen. In 2020, evo made a donation to Grow Cycling Foundation in Alex’s name.
