The Pieps Pro IPS Avalanche Beacon was introduced last season on a very limited basis among full time patrollers and mountain guides, and went straight to the head of the beacon class. With its 80m search strip and a new Interference Protection System (IPS), along with Dual Signal Processing (DASP) technology, the Pieps Pro IPS blows other top transceivers out of the water.
Dual Antenna Signal Processing (DASP) – The PIEPS PRO IPS processes the signals on both the X and Y antennas simultaneously, a first in avalanche transceivers. This provides a more accurate, faster and more stable indication of the victim/s location.
Scan Function – Provides a quick overview of the situation in a multiple burial scenario and displays the number of persons buried with distance intervals.
Victim Selection – Displays direction and distance to each victim to enable a targeted rescue strategy.
Advanced Search Control – Visual, acoustic and haptic support during the search. Prompts for reversal in case of wrong direction approach (180° error).
Auto Antenna Switch – Always uses the antenna with the strongest signal.
Ghost Signal Elimination – PIEPS’ sophisticated signal verification only displays signals from avalanche beacons and no “ghost signals” from other sources.
Deep Burial Recognition – The PRO IPS is capable of detecting and indicating deep burials over 2m.
Maximum Range – 70 meters
Search Strip – 80 meters
Three AAA Batteries
Battery LIfe – 600 hours minimum in SEND mode
Body Harness Included
Interference Protection System (IPS) – A unique technology that compensates for the influence of electronic and metallic interference to the transmitting device by analyzing and adapting to the interfering source. Users of the PIEPS PRO IPS are better protected against interference from personal electronics and metal items that could otherwise influence transmitting power.
Group Check Pro Mode – Quickly check that all beacons in the group are functioning properly
Inclinometer – Shows steepness of the terrain
Auto Search-to-Send – In the event of a secondary avalanche, the avalanche beacon automatically switches from search to send after a certain period of inactivity (motion sensor does not register movement).
Backup Mode – Backup Mode is intended for rescuers in passive search tasks, like probing or shoveling. Here, the Backup Mode mutes the “SEND” signal when device is in SEND position so other searchers can focus on the signal of the buried victim. Transmitting (sending) automatically resumes when no movement is detected for a predetermined time (the Auto-Revert timeout), preceded by a 30 second countdown.
bluetooth® Compatible
User Update to Latest Firmware
Temperature Range – -20C˚ to 45C˚ (-4F˚ to +113F˚)
Receive Frequency – 457 kHz
Transmit Frequency – 457 kHz
Beacons Require Training – Wearing an avalanche beacon is no guarantee of safety in avalanche terrain. We recommend that backcountry travelers take an AIARE Level One class or the equivalent, and practice the skills they learn there regularly with their partners.
