When the G3 Ion 12 hit the touring world last year, people were stoked but cautious - they'd been burned by poorly engineered and realized touring products too many times in the past to get all worked up without some real world testing. One year and many hundreds of vertical feet later, the verdict on the G3 Ion 12 Alpine Touring Bindings is in, and it's overwhelmingly positive. Burly construction, beautiful finish, nearly flat ramp angle and a heel that can be twisted in either direction to skin are pretty solid reasons, and get our vote too.
Wide Toe Jaw Dynamics & Tech Pin Positioning – Optimizes energy transfer and shock absorption. Enhances torsional rigidity of binding, and more directly transfers power to edges of ski.
Step-In Guidance – BootStop pops up and locates your boot toe at correct place. Quick, easy & consistent step-in. When you're in, you're in.
Snow Clearing Channel at Toe – Added stand height allows snow clearing with ski pole tip.
Robust, Reliable Simplicity – Simple and functional design that users of other tech bindings will be instantly familiar with.
Forward Pressure Heel – Spring loaded heel track allows binding to move rearward as the ski flexes.
Easy Release Adjustment – Both lateral and vertical release values can be adjusted with a Pozidrive #3 screwdriver.
Powerful Brake w/ Heel AFD (Anti Friction Device) – Fully retracting spring-loaded brake. Reassuring step-in and the most reliable brake deployment in the category. Anti Friction Device (AFD) ensures consistent release for all boots independent of sole.
Bi-Directional Touring Rotation – Heel may be rotated either clockwise or counterclockwise for skinning.
Quick Flick 3 Position Heel Lifts – Flat, medium and high positions can be adjusted on the fly with a ski pole.
Length Adjustability – 22 mm
Tech Boots Only – Requires a boot with tech heel and toe fittings.
Not compatible with boots that employ a metatarsal flex zone, such as the Scarpa F1, F3, Terminator X and TX Pro
Wide Freeride Mount – Transfers power to edges and enhances torsional rigidity of binding. 33% wider than traditional tech bindings.
Ion Bindings have a nearly flat ramp angle (boot dependent)
G3 Leash Included
One Size Fits All
G3 Ion Crampons Available Separately – A clip to retain crampons attaches to the toepiece base with 2 screws. The G3 Ion crampon features an ingenious cable release system that operates without having to slide the crampon laterally in the crampon slot. Crampons available in 85, 95, 105, 115, and 130 mm widths.
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
