New ski boot companies don't come along every day, but Phaenom Footwear has gone and done it. A ground-up fresh design emphasizing simplicity, functionality, and sustainability, the Phaenom Footwear fr 01 130 Ski Boots take something from both 2-piece and 3-piece designs - we'll call it a 2.5 piece - the fr 01 uses a "half cab" architecture with an overlap cuff, open scaffo (shell), and a much lower tongue than you're used to in other 3-piece boots. The 102mm forefoot width is built for comfort, and most average to somewhat wider feet should be fine in this boot. The available colorways = 1 (black) to make optimal use of recycled TPU plastics (thermoplastic urethane), and both shell and insoles use up to 30% recycled materials. The fr 01 130 includes a walk mode with 58 degree range of motion and tech fittings for your touring pleasure.
Last: 102mm – A wider last intended for average to wider and higher volume feet.
Flex: 130 – Very stiff flex for advanced to expert skiers
Phaenom Liner – Self molding foam - can be heated, but will form to your foot with use.
Recycled and Bio-Based Materials – The liner was designed to be as sustainable as possible without sacrificing performance. Utilizing as much recycled materials as is practically possible without compromising the performance and durability of the product. The foam is recycled, the fabrics have a minimum 50% recycled content, the inner sole is made from 50% bio-based EVA and all webbing and laces are made from 100% recycled materials.
Bio-Based Vibration Absorbing Outer Sole – The checkered print outer sole is designed to absorb high and low frequency vibrations coming up through the ski boot, making repeated landings more confortable and reducing foot and leg fatigue throughout the day. The outer sole’s extra grip and design means it's tough enough to be worn alone at après, or on your journey to and from the ski hill. Made from a minimum of 50% bio-based content.
Calf Stabilizer – TPU plastic placed meticulously around the calf and shin area redistributes pressure to eliminate pressure points.
Phaenom x Lenz Insole – Developed in collaboration with Lenz and highly renowned orthopedic specialists. These premium pre-shaped footbeds provide extra support, comfort and help prevent fatigue.
Hybrid Cabrio/Overlap Shell – The innovative hybrid cabrio/overlap shell features a distinctive and clean two-buckle design. It combines the best of both worlds: the close fit and edge control of the overlap, and the progressive flex of the 3-piece.
All-Black Design – The sleek all-black design supports restoration and reuse of the boot and its parts. Each element of this product — from panels to buckles to straps and screws — is designed to be repairable and recyclable.
Recycled Materials – Phaenom boots are designed to be as sustainable as possible without sacrificing performance. Recycled materials are integrated without compromising the performance and durability of the products.
Screws, Not Rivets – By using solely screws and no rivets, Phaenom gives riders the "right to repair." All boot parts are removable and replaceable and readily accessible through authorized retail partners and on Phaenom's website.
