Ollantaytambo & The Sacred Valley
Ollantaytambo, our homebase for the week, is the oldest continually inhabited town in all the Americas. Loaded with history and Inca sites in and around town, it is a great place to explore and learn about the Inca culture. Ollantaytambo is located in the heart of the Sacred Valley, also known as the Sacred Valley of the Incas or the Urubamba Valley. Stretching from the Urubamba River, around 6,700 ft elevation, to the tops of massive Andean peaks such as Mount Veronica, 19,334 ft, the valley is known for its beautiful sweeping planes and steep mountain slopes.
