Testing for the 2024 Union Force Snowboard Bindings:
We had three different testers with decades of snowboarding experience spend extensive time testing out the all-new Union Force Snowboard Bindings. As intermediate to advanced riders with a diverse background of snowboarding experience across a variety of mountains, conditions and terrain, they independently compiled their thoughts and each provided us their individual reviews below.
Great all-mtn binding for intermediates and experts!
I've always loved the Force bindings but I really loved the 2024 version. Union brought back the OG toe strap and upgraded the highbacks. If you're an at least an intermediate rider or better and looking for a go everywhere do everything all-mtn binding, I would definitely consider the 2024 Force bindings for your everyday setup.
Lighter and more approachable than previous years.
"For 2024, Union has redesigned the Forces from the ground up. The updated bushings and baseplate have resulted in a much more comfortable, lightweight binding that feels more approachable to the average rider than previous models of the Force. However, in doing so, I feel that Union has changed a lot of what made the Force, well, the Force. On the plus side, these bindings are extremely comfortable. They feel less stiff than previous renditions, and the updated design has resulted in a very comfortable ride-feel throughout the day. You feel less lead-footed with the lighter bushings, and the stiffness and response are still solid. However, in lightening the design, a lot of the stability and dampness of the Force is no longer in play. A lot of vibration and chop is transferred through the bindings straight to the rider when on more aggressive terrain like the Loveland Headwall or in less-than ideal conditions. Overall, they feel less responsive than the Strata or Atlas, and a bit more loose in its energy transmission to the board, which could play very nicely with a surfier powder board. Overall, while I didn't love the Forces for my own, more aggressive freeride style, I do believe they will be more widely appreciated by your average rider. If you're a solid intermediate working your way up from something like a Flite Pro, but not looking for something too stiff, this binding will be a comfortable middle-ground. They also could work quite nicely with a surfier, more playful powder board to really get that loose cruise feeling."
One of the best stiffer binding options out there.
"Unions are the best. I'm a size 8.5 and got the Mediums which fit me great. The Forces are a bit stiffer which is perfect for someone who rides hard and needs strong responsiveness out of their bindings to turn on a dime. The adjustability is easy, the buckles/straps are high quality and the highbacks were comfortable. I'd recommend this binding to Intermediate-Advanced riders who like to send!"
Versatility: The 2024 Union Force Snowboard Bindings are praised for their versatility, making them suitable for all-mountain riding and a range of terrain.
Upgraded Features: Riders appreciate the return of the OG toe strap and the improved highbacks, which enhance the overall performance and comfort of the bindings.
Comfort: The redesigned bindings offer improved comfort, with lighter bushings and a more approachable feel for the average rider.
Less Stable and Damp: Some riders feel that the changes made to the Force bindings result in reduced stability and dampness. This can lead to increased vibration and a less responsive ride, particularly on technical terrain or in unfavorable conditions.
Reduced Responsiveness: The lighter design and updated features of the bindings can lead to a looser feel and less energy transmission to the board. This may not suit riders seeking maximum responsiveness and precision.
Not Ideal for Aggressive Freeriding: Riders with an aggressive freeride style might find the Force bindings less suited to their preferences, as the looser ride feel may not provide the level of control and performance they seek on challenging slopes.
The 2024 Union Force Snowboard Bindings are best suited for intermediate to advanced riders who value versatility and comfort in their snowboarding experience. These bindings are designed to excel in all-mountain conditions, allowing riders to explore varied terrain with confidence. They provide a balance between responsiveness and stiffness, making them suitable for riders who want a binding that can handle quick turns and provide a solid ride feel.
While the bindings may not offer the highest level of stability and dampness compared to previous Force models, they're still perfectly capable for most intermediate to advanced riders. The lighter bushings and updated design contribute to a comfortable and approachable ride throughout the day, particularly for those who prefer a slightly looser feel.
Riders seeking a versatile, comfortable, and reliable binding for all-mountain riding will find the 2024 Union Force Snowboard Bindings to be a suitable option.
