Testing the 2025 Jones Rally Cat W Snowboard:
In assessing the 2025 Jones Rally Cat W, we enlisted four of our evo employees, bringing a mix of advanced snowboarding abilities and styles that include all mountain, freeride, freestyle, and groomers/carving. These evaluations unfolded primarily at Mission Ridge, WA, with one test conducted at Loveland, CO, challenging the board across a spectrum of conditions from groomed runs to slushy and varied terrains. Our testers, varying in height from 5'0" to 5'7" and weights from 135 lbs to 160 lbs, tested the 148 cm board size, which provided valuable insights into its versatility and performance across different rider profiles. The testers' varied experiences ensure our review encapsulates a comprehensive and unbiased perspective, making it a reliable resource for those considering the Jones Rally Cat W. Read on for each tester's perspective.
Awesome all mountain rider for intermediate riders!
I am 5'5" about 150lbs. Intermediate to advanced rider that likes to cover a bit of everything across the mountain. Groomers, side hits, powder, a few boxes/rails etc. I would size up one size but more on personal preference. Even with the smaller size, the 148cm was fairly stable at speed and responsive on turning. Held control and was able to set the edge well. For an intermediate rider who likes to cover the whole mountain. Would do well on jumps, not necessarily for powder but would do fine if you wanted a single board for everything. This board can do it all.
Rally laps!
"I am just under 5 feet tall 135lbs advanced snowboarder & I demoed on a slushy groomer day at Mission Ridge. Get ready to rally! This fun mid/soft flex board is poppy, light and eats up chunder for breakfast! I mean graphics aren't everything to a board, but the hot pink was awesome! We ride pink on Wednesdays!"
Fun all mountain board
"I demoed this board the other day in a 148 which is a little longer than what I prefer. I was still surprised at how well it handled and how playful it felt. Overall seems like a solid all mountain board! I think I would have liked it a lot more in a 143 since I am 5 foot 3 inches."
Your intermediate to your more freestyle riders will have a ball
"Love what Jones brings to the table and Rally Cat will have you rallying for more laps all over the mountain. This board is playful and can hold a good edge while your getting in turns. The directional twin shape will have looking for some deeper turns while still being able to enjoy your favorite park laps. This is a great option if your looking for a little bit more fun and play on the mountain."
Versatility: The Jones Rally Cat W is a standout for riders who explore all parts of the mountain, offering stability and responsiveness whether you’re on groomers, hitting side parks, or tackling light powder.
Playfulness: Despite its all-mountain capability, the board maintains a playful, poppy feel that was particularly appreciated during slushy conditions, making it a fun choice for varied terrains.
Aesthetics: The vibrant graphics on the board received positive remarks, with the design appealing to those who value style alongside performance.
Size Specificity: Several testers mentioned a preference for different sizes to optimize the board's performance, suggesting that finding the right fit could be crucial for maximum enjoyment.
Powder Performance: While versatile, the Rally Cat W is not specifically optimized for deep powder conditions, which could be a limitation for riders prioritizing powder days.
Flex and Control: Although the mid-soft flex is a highlight for some, riders seeking a stiffer board for aggressive carving might find it less suitable for their style.
The 2025 Jones Rally Cat W is ideal for intermediate to advanced riders who demand a versatile and fun board capable of handling a wide range of mountain conditions. This board is particularly suited for those who enjoy an all-mountain experience and appreciate a board that is both stable at speed and playful in less demanding conditions.
With its ability to perform well on groomers, side hits, and even in light powder, the Rally Cat W is a top pick for riders who want a single board that can adapt to most situations they encounter. Its poppy nature and light weight make it excellent for riders who value agility and an enjoyable ride across different terrains. However, for those who are predominantly focused on deep powder riding or require a board specifically for aggressive carving, this might not be the perfect fit. The Rally Cat W excels as a generalist rather than a specialist, making it an outstanding choice for riders looking to maximize their fun on a broad mix of mountain conditions.
