2024 Line Chronic 101 Skis Review

The Lowdown

The Line Chronic 101 is straight up fun! It has become my go-to ski for most days, always delivering a good time. It makes the whole mountain into your playground and is just at home ripping up groomers. It has an enormous sweet spot that just feels good no matter where your weight is. With a mid-fat width, blunt but light tips, and decent tip and tail rocker, you won't be let down if there is fresh snow to be had.

Ride Impressions

I've been skiing the 185cm length which is my typical size and they feel just right. I sometimes like to size a more freestyle-oriented ski down in length but with generous rocker in the tip and tail, as well as mounting close to center, kept my normal size already feeling shorter. I've taken it on a few local trips as a single-quiver and have not been let down. I can't say I've used it on the deepest days, when I typically prefer something wider, but it has handled Colorado day-after pow stashes just fine. As expected it can be a bit shaky on super hard snow with its width, rocker, and no metal, but as soon as you put it on edge, it really does rail. Although I don't ski that much park anymore, I tend to like a 100ish millimeter underfoot freestyle ski as a daily driver. More than any skis in that category, the Chronic 101 just feels so well-balanced, making smooth turns in all varieties, with a flex that is just right in the sweet spot. I'd put it somewhere between an Armada Stranger and an older Line Sir Francis Bacon, truly great for all ages, ideal if you like to ski in a playful way, mixing carves with slashes with airs, or even if you truly want to go bigger in the park.

Who Is It For?

The Chronic 101 is obviously great for the park skier who tackles the whole mountain but it is also perfect for the all-mountain skier who just likes to break loose and ski differently. If you are not just wanting to make the same GS turns the whole way down, this ski opens up a world of turn shape possibilities. It would be ideal for single-quiver east coast ski or a general/down day west cost ski.
