Ya mon, 'dis Beast is the King of the tech jungle, meant to keep only the burliest lions in the pride on their feet and moving downhill. Built with input from skiers like Eric Hjorliefson who wanted a tech touring clamp with more elasticity than previous models, the Dynafit Beast 16 Alpine Touring Bindings may just rock your world if you're the kind of skier who likes to drop 50 footers after skinning a few thousand vertical. Compatible only with tech-soled boots with a retrofittable steel heel insert in place of the standard tech fitting (heel insert is included), these bindings utilize stronger, ovaliized heel pins with built in elasticity in addition to a floating toe pivot to make sure you don't release until you really need to. Substantially lighter at 953 grams (135 mm brake) than most high DIN frame AT bindings, the limited production Dynafit Beast will be a highly sought-after commodity this season - get it if you can.
Pivoting / Tracking Toe Piece – Allows the boot to move laterally ~6˚ to either side without forcing open the toe jaws
Toe Lever – Lever is pushed forward and flat to the ski to lock the toe for skinning - this also locks the rotational capability.
Heel Pins – New ovalized heel pins are spring loaded and have up-and-out elastic travel for better retention than any tech binding to date.
Release – Lateral and Vertical release both originate at the heel, and release values are set with separate screws.
Mid and High Climbing Levels
Toe Locking Feature – The Beast 16 toe locks by pushing the wide black lever forward and flush with the ski deck (the opposite of traditional Dynafit levers); this locks out the lateral rotation as well as preventing the toe jaws from opening.
Requires use of Dynafit "horseshoe" heel fitting that replaces the traditional tech heel plate on your boot.
Compatible with Tech Boots Only – Tech toe and heel fittings must be installed in your boots in order to use this binding. If in doubt, ask your ski tech.
Stand Height and Ramp Angle – Toe: 17 mm, Heel: 23 mm, Ramp: 6 mm positive
One Size Fits All – Binding can be mounted to fit all boot sizes.
Wide 43 mm Base Plate
TŰV certified to ISO/DIN 13992 standards – This binding conforms to the ISO/DIN 13992 alpine touring binding standard.
We recommend a brake width equal to or at most 15 mm wider than the ski waist width.
