K2 threw it back to its roots and set out to create a board that embodies snowboarding as they see it. Cue the Def Leppard and roll out the K2 Eighty Seven Snowboard. This award winning deck takes a new-school approach to the classic throwback shape with its 19mm setback and 10mm taper combined with K2's volume-shift shaping that yields a shorter, fatter profile for a lively feel. A directional camber baseline, carbon torque forks and dialed Bambooyah core make the K2 Eighty Seven Snowboard a unique all-mountain freeride board that wants to carve just as much as it wants to float in the deep stuff.
Directional Camber Baseline™ – With camber between the feet and a slight rocker in the tip and tail, you have all the power of a camber board and little extra float on deep days. Adding rocker also allows the contact points to be lifted slightly allowing for smooth transitions.
Tweekend™ – Tweekend™ is simply taking the rocker and camber profile of the board and extending that profile into the tip and tail. This allows you to use the whole board as stable platform for pressing butters, floating in powder and landing big hits.
Flex Rating – 5 (1 Soft - 5 Stiff)
Tapered Directional
10mm Taper
Volume Shift™ – Volume is moved from the tips and tails to underfoot for a wider, shorter design than traditional snowboard shapes, increasing mobility and maneuverability for better slashing and more lines through the trees.
Bambooyah® Core – A little bit of Bambooyah goes a long way. The new Bambooyah core is a blend of two woods to save weight and still provide the same 5-year warranty on all Bambooyah cores.
Carbon Torque Forks – K2 keeps their carbon simple by placing it from the binding to the contact points of the board for a more responsive and stable ride.
ICG 10 Glass™ – Integrating carbon into the fiberglass adds longevity to your board as well as a super smooth release of power while increasing pop and liveliness. ICG 10 has ten strands of carbon, which doesn't make the board significantly stiffer but rather makes the board feel more alive.
Biaxial Glass – Glass runs north south and east west in the board. Biaxial boards are not just for beginners, they're great on rails, in urban settings, and in the park due to their forgiving nature.
Hybritech™ – Hybritech™ is the most efficient way to make a snowboard without sacrificing one ounce of performance. Featuring sidewalls along the running surface that flow into the nose and tail, providing low swing-weight while extending the wood core all the way to the tip of the board for optimized turning initiation and durability.
Sintered 4000 – This is the fastest natural base material available. It is exceptionally durable and absorbs wax deep into the pores of the material holding that well-waxed performance for as long as possible.
