Product Info

K2 Pontoon Skis 2011: Inspired by innovative thinker Shane McConkey, the K2 Pontoon Skis have revolutionized the ski industry. Tip and tail rocker combined with a pintail design give it a very “surfy” turn shape, and make it virtually impossible to submerge the tips. Further, it planes immediately and turns on a dime, allowing you to ski tight trees at slow speeds or straight line 60mph powder runs with confidence. As such, it boasts the broadest performance range of any ski K2 has ever known; it can turn an intermediate into a powder addict in one short run, and satiate hard charging skiers like McConkey all season long.

Product Details

Shape

The tapered tail combines with a shape that is designed for those who ski off-piste, these skis are shaped to work for all disciplines from the most serious alpine touring skier to the big mountain powder ripper

Powder Rocker: 50% Camber, 50% Rocker. The powder rocker is designed for deep snow. The tip has the most elevation and longest measurement of rocker and offers skiers a “surfy” feel with enhanced soft-snow performance. The camber region still exists to ensure edge-hold on firmer conditions

Flat/notched tail

Construction

These skis use Torsion Box Cap construction which means they are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski.

Flex

Use: Variable snow: 5%, Soft snow: 95%

The Fir and Aspen core is Triaxial braided which consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented Triaxial Braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. This unique method produces skis with great torsional strength, while maintaining the lively flex patterns of the wood core.
