K2 Backlash Skis 2011: The K2 Backlash Skis strike the perfect balance for those seeking a resort worthy sled that’s light enough for all day tours. A 92mm waist, superlight wood core and cap construction, combined with the smooth, supple, dampness of metal deliver the versatility to tackle hard or soft conditions on either side of the rope. K2’s added All-Terrain shovel rocker this year to broaden its sweet spot and increase its versatility. And the progressive 16/14 sidecut supplies edge-hold and precision in a variety of turn shapes and conditions regardless of whether you’re dropping your knee or locking your heels.
The K2 Coomback Skis have a progressive sidecut, which is a combination of two different radii or sidecuts that enhance the versatility of wider waisted skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works great on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of a progressive sidecut on wider waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard snow performance
All-Terrain Rocker – 70% Camber, 30% Rocker. The All-Terrain Rocker is the most versatile Baseline™ available featuring an elevated tip for variable and soft-snow performance and camber underfoot for power, energy and edge-hold in firmer conditions
Flat/notched tail
Torsion Box Cap construction means they are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski. Snowphobic top sheets keep you light with a new snow repellent topsheet. The running surface along the bottom of a ski is hydrophobic by design so K2’s developed a thinner version of the same material to use on the back model specific topsheets.
Use: Variable snow: 40%, Soft Snow: 60%
The core is a combination of Aspen, Paulownia, and Bamboo. Aspen is known for its inherent strength and durability, while Paulownia and Bamboo are both eco friendly and lightweight.
