Faction Prodigy STP Skis 2012: The Faction Prodigy STP Skis like to go exploring around resort, finding secret stashes in the trees and hidden gullies filled with fresh powder. If getting to these spots requires crossing mogul fields, crusty crud, and maybe even a go in the park then you’ve got no problems as the Prodigy loves it all. Rocker technology, in tip and tail with traditional camber under foot just makes all of this even more fun. STP technology makes a torsionally-stiff, light ski. With a graphic collaboration between Whistler-based Japanese-born Taka Sudo and in-house designer Mac10, a percentage of all sales of this ski will go to aid the Japanese Earthquake Relief Fund.
All-mountain Twin Rocker: tip & tail rocker and traditional camber on the Prodigy combine to create an off-piste bias ski that floats amazingly yet is still quick edge-to-edge - 5/150mm tip rocker, 5mm camber underfoot, 5/100mm tail rocker.
Rider-Centric Technology: the dimensions, specs, materials, cores and flexes of all Faction skis are designed around rider specifications, not market segments. This way, the products benefit from the best performance possible with maximum versatility.
The Echo Initiative: the production house, logistics and offices are all assessed for compliance to ISO 14001, and Faction is initiating projects in select resorts to start reclaiming and recycling old skis as part of its environmental policy.
Sandwich construction
P-tex 4000 die-cut bases
Anti-chip sidewalls
Full-wrap edges
Half-Nelson core uses custom-designed laminates to give a combination of strength, dampness at speed. A full length core right to the tip of the ski; the Half-Nelson is still relatively light.
Medium-Stiff flex
In conjunction with NBL Sport, Faction has been researching how to make our skis lighter and easier to ride, without sacrificing edge grip or torsional strength. The Snake Transition Project (S.T.P.) is the fruit of their labor. Up to 30% lighter skis with equivalent or better torsion than a traditionally built ski, resulting in more positive edge grip and easier turn initiation. A wave pressed into the full length of the ski during construction is the secret.
We recommend a brake width that is equal to the ski waist width and at most 15 mm wider.
