After being dubbed "Mountain Bike of the Year" just last season, the 2018 Transition Patrol GX Complete Mountain Bike needed little refinement. Yet being the tinkerers that they are, the team at Transition has further developed the Patrol to continue pushing the boundaries of a long travel trail bike. Incorporating new Speed Balanced Geometry (SBG), this year's Patrol boasts even more control, confidence, and party! What is SBG? Transition combines a slacker head tube angle with a new, reduced-offset fork standard -- it may sound minute, but the difference is plenty evident in the saddle. Top this bad boy off with the cutting-edge 1x12 gearing of a SRAM GX Eagle™ groupset and we can guarantee that the powerful, versatile Transition Patrol GX Complete Mountain Bike will completely evolve the way you look at trails.
Speed Balanced Geometry – SBG ensures the bike maintains low speed agility, front wheel traction, and proper rider weight balance while actually increasing confidence in steep terrain and at high speeds. With SBG, a slacker head tube angle is combined with an all new reduced offset fork standard, preventing the front wheel from being too far in front of the rider. This improves front to rear weight distribution on the bike, which is often out of balance on long and slack bikes. One of SBG's greatest benefits is that it creates a confident steering feel that adapts to wheel speed. More stability when going fast, more agility on technical slow speed maneuvering as well as improved traction, control and confidence for any skill level of rider.
GiddyUp 2.0HH Suspension – Building upon the success of Transition's original GiddyUp suspension design, the new GiddyUp 2.0HH system has been refined for the modern two-wheel cowboy delivering a slightly firmer feel for more efficient pedaling, as well as more progressive travel that provides that extra little bit of bottom-out support when needed.
Fox DPX2 Performance Elite Shock – Combining DPS XC efficiency and X2 DH performance, the DPX2 is the ultimate trail shock. The Dual Piston Base Valve has dedicated compression and lockout circuits for each of the three modes -- Open, Medium, and Firm. It also features a recirculating damper design found in X2 shocks, creating excellent small bump sensitivity, great mid-stroke damping support, and better control in transitions.
Shock Adjustments – 3 Lever Actuated Modes (Open, Medium, Firm) | Open Mode Adjust | External Rebound | Air Spring Pressure
Trunion Shock Mount
Extra Long Seatpost Insertion
Full Water Bottle Storage
Enduro Max Sealed Bearings
12x148 Boost Rear End

RockShox Lyrik RC Solo Air – With a completely new chassis, featuring tapered legs and a taller brace for stiffness and light weight, and a collection of new technologies such as a re-tuned Solo Air spring with additional negative volume for a plusher initial stroke, Bottomless Token tunability in both Solo Air and Dual Position Air configurations, SKF wiper seals for lower friction and better sealing, and user-tunable rebound damping via internal shims (same as BoXXer), Lyrik is built to inspire confidence and blur the lines of capability that limit all other forks in its class. Proven features include 35mm Fast Black upper tubes and an RC Charger Damper with a new SKF cartridge seal to reduce friction and extended service intervals.
Fork Adjustments – Low Speed Compression from Open to Firm | Charger 2 Damper (RC) | External Rebound | Air Spring Pressure
SRAM Descendant 6K Crankset – The Descendant 6K crankset delivers consistent performance every time out. Featuring SRAM's X-SYNC™2 tooth profile chainring, the Descendant crankset is engineered for complete chain control. Each tooth's thickness is precisely toleranced and controlled to work seamlessly with the SRAM chain's inner and outer links.
SRAM GX Eagle™ 12-Speed Shifter – The challenges of riding a mountain bike should be kept to roots, rocks, mud, trees, jumps, drops and breathing. Putting total control of your gear selection into the thumb of one hand, it's simple to find the right gear, right now. The GX Eagle™ trigger shifter is the control center of the Eagle™ drivetrain. Its internal works have been updated to include a 12th gear, and improved to enhance trigger feel, precision and durability.
SRAM GX Eagle™ 12-Speed Derailleur – This new GX derailleur not only answers the Eagle™ drivetrain's need for greater capacity, but it's also the next evolution of SRAM's proven, 1x-specific X-HORIZON™ design. The larger, 14-tooth X-SYNC™ lower pulley allows for a 10- to 50-tooth cassette, and also adds to Eagle's overall smooth-pedaling feel. SRAM's new Type-3 ROLLER BEARING CLUTCH™ features a smoother operation and feel. CAGE LOCK™ has been moved back and out of the way, protecting it from trail debris. And a redesigned, robust mounting system further improves the Eagle™ derailleur's performance and overall durability.
SRAM XG 1275 Eagle™ Cassette – Ride anywhere with this wide range XG-1275, 10- to 50-tooth Eagle cassette that provides the right gear. Fast on the flats. Control on the climbs. Dictate your own pace, anywhere. Only Eagle™ technology is the 1x drivetrain engineered for infinite freedom. FULL PIN technology uses lightweight, stamped steel cogs held together with high-strength stainless steel pins. The result: a cassette that's light and strong. The open design similar to SRAM's X-DOME™ cassette aids in mud clearance, giving you cleaner shifting performance and longer component life. New X-GLIDE™2 improves both inboard and outboard shifting, as well as chain retention.
SRAM GX Eagle™ 12-Speed Chain – It might look normal from the outside, but the engineering inside this incredible new chain design that makes possible a gear range previously found only in 2-chainring drivetrains. And it’s also the biggest contributor to the Eagle™ drivetrain’s ultra-smooth, precise, durable and quiet performance. The Eagle™ chain’s links have a smooth radius, with no sharp edges or chamfers, which yield a significant reduction in noise, friction and wear on chainrings and cassette cogs. This design also allows for a flatter plate, which means more consistent chain riveting and greater overall strength. HARD CHROME™ technology extends the chain’s optimal performance life.
SRAM Code R Hydraulic Disc Brakeset – Sleek, easy to use, yet immensely powerful. Code R packs a winning punch with a reliable DirectLink™ lever mated to Code's new oversized four-piston caliper. SRAM's signature ergonomics are supplemented by the tool-free reach adjust for a fit to each riders' needs, to unleash Code's superior braking, power, consistency and modulation.
SRAM Centerline Rotors – The new Centerline rotor was designed to keep the center of friction consistent throughout rotation, thereby minimizing vibration offering consistent performance and a quiet ride.
Maxxis Minion DHF EXO Dual | Front Tire – The Minion DHF was designed for the often loose and muddy conditions of aggressive all-mountain terrain. The DHF incorporates ramped knobs for low rolling resistance and channel-cut knobs to increase gripping edges, giving straight-line control and precise cornering.
Maxxis Minion DHR II EXO Dual | Rear Tire – The trail version of the Maxxis Minion DHR II features the same tread pattern as its downhill counterpart, but uses a single-ply casing to reduce weight. With side knobs borrowed from the legendary Minion DHF, but widened to provide more support, the DHR II corners like no other. The center tread features ramped knobs to improve acceleration and sipes to create a smooth transition when leaning the bike. Paddle-like knobs on the center tread dig in under hard braking and help keep the bike under control. Pair it with a Minion DHF up front for the ultimate aggressive trail riding tire combo!
RockShox Reverb Stealth Dropper Seatpost – Don’t let its familiar good looks fool you—Reverb is a whole new weapon. Its internals have been completely re-engineered to improve on its already legendary performance and to offer enhanced reliability: all the smallest details, down to the single seal, have been re-evaluated and updated to pass the hardest and longest durability tests. Additional bushing overlap also improves performance over time. This is the brand-new Reverb, engineered for the next-generation mountain biker.
Steeve Speed – The fastest person who ever lived. In 1889 Steeve participated in a gentlemen's wager that involved racing horses. He rode his horse so fast that the friction from the shoes started a fire. The fire spread quickly and grew beyond control. This fire came be known as "The Great Seattle Fire" that burned down the city. Steeve Managed to escape with minor burns, however, the flames burned a most of the hair on the front of his head leaving his long, black steel mane untouched in back. A photo of the aftermath shows Steeves damaged hair that was uncovered and popularized by a TIME magazine article in 1978. This is the known origin of the iconic hair style known as "The Mullet".
