13 oz Selvedge Chino Fabric – Categorized by the weight of a square yard of fabric, 13 oz denim is a mid-weight, moderately structured fabric. This weight tends to start off rather stiff and heavy, but wears into a softer more manageable denim over time. Though they take longer to break in than a lighter weight denim, positives of this weight include a better fade, slightly warmer jean for cooler weather, and more durability for a lasting pant.

Rope Dyed Black – When rope-dyeing, the yarns are never left in the black bath long enough for the dye to fully absorb its way into the center of the yarn. So what you have is a yarn with a thick and beautiful build-up of indigo shell with a white core. As you wear your jeans for a few months and create folds and creases in the fabric, the indigo shell will start to break away and the white center will be revealed for a higher contrast and more impressive fade.

Blue Ear Selvedge – Selvedge denim is the only true “vintage” denim as it is woven on old-school machines called shuttle looms. Just flip up the cuff of your jeans or look inside the coin-pocket to see the neat white & blue “self edge” (hence the term selvedge), which is the “proof” that this denim is made on a shuttle loom and not a new mass-production loom.

The first rule in caring for your raw jeans is that there are no rules. The whole fun of raw denim is that you, the end consumer, has the power to do whatever you want! Personally, we like to beat the crap out of our jeans so that they will fade beautifully and take our form. If this is your intention as well, then we recommend you wear your jeans as much as possible, for as long as possible before washing them for the first time, then go ahead and wash them inside-out in cold water and hang to dry. Of course, if this above idea is not for you, or if you just like simple and clean selvedge denim, then feel free to wash your jeans as often as you like, even before you wear them for the very first time. The result will be a softer (and cleaner) solid pair of jeans.
