Don't worry about tons of other skiers having this boot on their feet; the Atomic Hawx Prime 120 S GW Ski Boots outsell all the other mid-volume expert boots out there for a couple of reasons. For starters, they rip. Outstanding performance across all types of snow and terrain, along with a supportive but not TOO supportive flex, make them hard to beat on the snow. Two, the Memory Fit technology used to fit these boots is tops in the industry, and can make this boot fit the vast majority of average width and slightly wider feet. Enough hyperbole from the copywriters; get out there and try a pair of these and find out for yourself.
Last: 100 mm – Designed for average width feet with average and slightly taller insteps.
Memory Fit – Advanced heat-fitting technology creates a fully personalized shell, cuff and liner in minutes. The key is Memolink, Atomic's special additive that improves the moldability and stretch of their plastics. Expansion can be up to 6mm forefoot width and up to 10mm ankle width, resulting in a permanent and complete anatomical fit in minutes. See your bootfitter for details.
Adaptive Fit Cuff System – These boots come with a special spoiler in the back of the cuff. If you want a classic, cozy fit around the calf you can just leave the spoiler in. If you want more volume you can take the spoiler out. This makes the boot cuff slightly lower at the back, more tuliped and more open (equivalent to one cuff size larger). It's quick, easy and you don't need tools.
Energy Backbone – Reinforced along the lines of force at the rear of the cuff
Flex: 120 – A stiff flex for great power and response, suitable for fast and aggressive skiers.
True Flex – Atomic's unique True Flex additive helps PU and Grilamid shells maintain a consistent flex and feel in a wide variety of temperatures.
Mimic Platinum Liner – Improved with Power Ankle Lock (PAL) construction, 3D Stretch Toe, Thinsulate™ insulation, and Adaptive Fit System (AFS) Tongue
3D Stretch Toe Box – Asymmetrically shaped for left and right, the new 3D Stretch Toe Box takes first fit and customization potential to the next level. Its ‘Big Toe Friendly’ construction maximizes the liner’s available length allowing for a little extra stretch when important millimeters are required to achieve the perfect fit.
Power Ankle Lock (PAL) – A thicker, better defined area of foam around the malleolus to increase heel and ankle retention
Adaptive Fit System (AFS) Tongue – Adjustable for height with a simple Velcro attachment
3M™ Thinsulate™ Insulation – Keeps feet warm and responsive even in extremely cold and damp conditions.
Cuff – Polyurethane
Shell – Polyurethane
Energy Backbone – A reinforced, asymmetric backbone providing extra strength for powerful skiing plus enhanced lateral energy transmission for better edge grip.
Prolite – Instead of starting with a standard construction and cutting material away to save weight, Prolite does the opposite. It starts with the slimmest possible profile and then builds up reinforcements in key areas where strength is needed - like the Energy Backbone down each boot spine.
Power Shift 2.0 – Forward lean can be quickly adjusted to 13°, 15° (default) or 17°.
