Volkl Attiva Aurora Skis + iPT Wide Ride 12.0 Bindings - Women's 2011: A queen of all-condition skis, built for versatile, highly experienced female skiers. Out in the glades and in changing snow conditions, the Volkl Attiva Aurora Skis bring all the benefits of a wide ski (82 mm at the waist), yet on hard terrain the iPT Wide Ride bindings prove just as agile as a pair of narrower carvers. Its Bio-Logic technology makes turning easier while reducing stress peaks and skier exhaustion.
The unique Motion iPT interface allowed Volkl engineers to further develop their signature Double Grip construction, creating Extended Double Grip. The added height extends from tip and tail, placing more material where it’s needed-in support of the edges. Extended Double Grip has the mist consistent pressure distribution of any construction Volkl has ever created, offering more control, and better performance.
iPT Wide Ride 12.0 Bindings improves performance in three key ways: 1) The Wide Ride interface is 30% wider than the original iPT. It was developed specifically for skis 80mm and wider. 2) The toe and heel pieces for the Wide Ride system are the same design as those of the Marker Duke and Jester freeride bindings. The components contribute to better performance with a more secure wrap on the boot lug, and increased directional elasticity in the heel. 3) Lighter weight, shorter connection to the ski. Both the toe and heel components are extremely light, allowing the skier to have a very wide ski that is as easy to handle and maneuverable as a narrower system. This is also aided by the short overall length of the system.
Extended Sensorwood Core is created in a complex CNC milling process. The highly sophisticated milling program enables Volkl to produce wood cores with extreme precision. They are “extended” upward and lengthwise, milled to form the chambers of the Extended Double Grip construction. The core consists of a blend of poplar and beech wood, and is found in Volkl’s highest performing models.
