K2 Apache Crossfire Skis + Marker MX 12.0 Demo Bindings: The new K2 Apache Crossfire Skis gain an additional 4mm underfoot going to 74mm giving it even more versatility in varied conditions with the same precision and accuracy on groomers that you have come to expect. The K2 Apache Crossfire Ski is the only ski in the Apache line that comes with ABS sidewall construction for the ultimate performance and hold while laying down arcs on firmer terrain.
The K2 Apache Crossfire Skis are an all mountain ski with flat tails and feature MOD Technology. This means they have a secondary core applied for a smooth ride, and mass added to a precise location to reduce vibrations. Flat tails add tremendous utility to a ski by allowing you to easily plunge the tails into firm snow. You can build anchors, stake out your tent, or merely secure your skis while retrieving something from your pack.
The K2 Apache Crossfire Skis have ABS Sidewall construction. Unlike the cap construction, the contests of a sidewall ski are protected and sealed in by a vertical material on the perimeter of the ski that is separate and distinct from the top material. The sidewall material is placed directly above the edge for additional reinforcement and support. This type of construction tends to have a more precise transmission of power due to the vertical nature of the construction process.
This binding system offers the most direct transmission of power to the ski for unmatched precision and control used exclusively on Apache skis. The K2/MX maximizes the performance of the ski/binding interaction by offering a wider contact to the ski for the best delivery of power to the edge. The MX system uses Marker’s Inter-Pivot Heel technology that has a wider footprint extending its contact point closer to the edge of the ski. The system hubs are functionally wider with a 50mm footprint which further decreases the distance between the binding and the edge of the ski for added performance. Finally, the MX system has tighter tolerances between the binding and the surface of the secondary ski core for a more precise feel.
The core is made of Fir and Aspen that is lower density and light weight. The inherent strength, durability, and energy make this a preferred core for anyone.
