The Salomon X-Drive 8.0 FS Skis + MXT12 Bindings is a lightweight package with an exceptional blend of power and versatility. Suitable for intermediate to advanced skiers (or athletic beginners) who prefer clean turns on groomed snow, the X-Drive 8.0 FS relies on a combination of full length ABS sidewalls, carbon / polyamide "X-Drive" torsional reinforcement, and a layer of Titanal metal in the layup to produce smooth and precise turns you'll have to experience to believe. Salomon reduces vibrating mass at the tip of the ski using a lightweight construction of Koroyd™ honeycomb, and further dampens the ski by using a layer of woven basalt in the construction. The included binding is the proven Salomon MXT 12, with the most positive step-in action in the industry and a DIN range of 4-12.

All Terrain Rocker 2.0 – With a slight tip and tail rise, All Terrain Rocker 2.0 adds an extra dimension of versatility and control for all mountain skiing. Camber in the middle of the ski and full length contact guarantees strong edge grip, stability and power for hard snow and piste skiing. In addition to the excellent terrain absorption and intuitive turn initiation, the slight twin rocker also allows the ski to pivot much easier when flat, increasing control and maneuverability in all conditions.

Basalt Layer – Basalt fiber layer running the length of the ski provides outstanding dampening and vibration absorption.

Rocker/Camber/Rocker Rocker/Camber/Rocker skis have the playfulness and float of a rockered ski as well as the added edge hold of a cambered ski. The contact points on skis with this profile are closer towards the middle of the ski than a fully cambered ski, but still not underfoot. The cambered midsection provides a longer effective edge on hardpack, increasing edge hold and stability, while the rockered tip and tail provide floatation in deeper snow and allow the ski to initiate and release from turns easier.

If there is such a thing as a boot for the hypothetical "Everyman" the hugely popular Atomic Hawx 1.0 100X Ski Boots are probably it. Sporting the original Hawx 100 mm last, the 1.0 fit is slightly lower volume in the forefoot than the 2.0 and originated the remarkable comfort versus performance ratio that put the Hawx on the map in the first place. A classic four buckle overlap design provides a predictable, progressive flex and tons of options for customizing the fit and feel.
