Skiing lines like Hoji entails two distinct activities. First you have to get up there, which is no small feat. Then there's the precise control and power you need to rip the descent without killing yourself. You'll get the best of both worlds with the new Dynafit Khion Carbon Alpine Touring Ski Boots, designed to crush in both directions without compromise. The Khion Carbon is lighter and flexes stiffer than last year's Vulcan, but the overlap exoskeleton design offers a smoother and more progressive feel than ever before in a stiff touring boot. At 1530 grams per boot in a 27.5 with a 90˚ range of cuff motion, and with a legit 130 flex, the Khion Carbon really gives up very little to light touring boots on the climb and nothing to stiff cross-over boots on the down. A streamlined shape and cleverly engineered buckle system translate to minimal snow resistance in deeper snow. Don't wait, head on down to your favorite shop (we hope it's evo) and lay your feet on the new Khion Carbon, a blast from the future that's here today.
Bootfitter's Comments – Mid-wide forefoot with an average midfoot and instep height. Aggressive heel pocket fit.
Reverse Engineering – The Khion fit, with a larger, pre-punched metatarsal area and more relaxed instep height than previous Dynafit freetouring models, was developed using a reverse engineering development process.
Very Stiff Flex
Side Bumper – These cushioned stops between the 2nd and 3rd buckles allow super progressive turn response.
Custom Ready Liner with Ultralon™ Heat Moldable Foam – Dynafit's Custom Ready Liner is a comfy, heat moldable liner that stands up to the repeated abuse of removing it and sticking it back in the shell.
Mapping Construction – Careful placement of thinner but slightly denser liner materials, developed in conjunction with Dynafit's stable of backcountry athletes, provides excellent skiing response with superb heel hold.
Quick Lacing Closure System
Power Drive Tongue – This asymmetrical tongue design features a central anchor rib to increase contact area and reduce play, resulting in improved power and comfort while skiing.
Lower Shell / Cuff – Pebax / Carbon Fiber
Magnesium Spoiler – A super rigid spoiler that promotes outstanding ski performance and lowers the overall boot weight.
Exoskeleton – This external shell framework provides lateral and forward rigidity to the boot and allows softer materials to be used in areas critical to walking and skinning comfort.
Forward Lean – 16˚
Range of Motion – 90˚
Precision Lock System – A patented Dynafit system that provides the most positive connection in the touring world, for precise and immediate skiing response. In "ski" mode, the shell, cuff and super rigid magnesium spoiler are locked as a single unit; when in "tour" mode the Precision Lock System allows an amazing 90˚ range of cuff motion.
Magnetic Buckle Catchers – Catch plates on the boot shell are magnetized to hold buckles in place while adjustments are made and keep unfastened buckles in place while touring.
One Touch Buckles – This patented system allows you to open the buckle completely with a single motion.
No Power Strap – One less thing to deal with; this boot is plenty stiff without one.
Formula Pomoca® Sole – Pomoca® uses a highly abrasion and cut resistant compound, combined with a tread pattern that enhances walking and provides immediate lateral response when skiing.
Snow Dynamics Concept – For the first time, a boot has been engineered to excel in deeper snow with minimal snow resistance. The compact profile and streamlined buckle configuration reduce drag, protect components from damage by ice and rock, and help ensure efficient travel while booting.
Quick Step-In Insert – Genuine Dynafit Quick Step-In inserts have a subtle ridge to aid in positioning the toe of the boot in the binding.
Compatible with tech and ISO 13992 alpine touring bindings
